PARISH SCHOOL BOARD FORMED

St. Mary Parish recently formed a Parish School Board for Mater Dei High School and St. Mary School.  The board was created in response to a mandate from the United States Council of Catholic Bishops directing each diocese take the appropriate action to ensure that Catholic Education continues to be valued and successful.  The St. Mary Parish School Board has limited jurisdiction for the facilities, finances, and marketing of the two schools.  Its role is to ensure that the parish schools continue to be effective and successful in providing faith based education and to assist in reaffirming parish commitment to Catholic Education.

The nine members of the Parish School Board are: Craig Palmer, Board Chair; Sister Gloria Barone; Patricia Colman Gibson, Mater Dei ’88; Anne Cozzati-Ault, Mater Dei ’84; Catherine Daniels, Mater Dei ’79; Joseph Oxley, Mater Dei ’76; Thomas Reidy; Laurence Reilly; and Lou Scaduto, Mater Dei ´82.   Palmer, Gibson, and Cozzati-Ault currently have children enrolled in the parish schools; Reidy, Reilly, and Scaduto are parents of Mater Dei alumni.  Monsignor Walsh and the administrative staff at both schools are “ex officio” members of the board.  Beth D’Alessandro is the board attorney.

The Parish School Board will create strategic plans for Mater Dei and St. Mary School.  It is anticipated that this process will take two years; a strategic plan for Mater Dei will be completed in the first year, and a plan for St. Mary School will be completed in the second year.

The board has begun work to develop a strategic plan for Mater Dei that will guide the school for the next 3 - 5 years.  Please help us develop that strategic plan by completing the attached survey.

Your candid and honest comments on the survey will be very helpful in identifying potential areas for improvement and consideration as the St. Mary Parish School Board begins its long-range planning for Mater Dei and determines the school's future direction.

Your responses will be anonymous.  If you have questions or need any additional information, please contact Ray Brush, Mater Dei's Director of Advancement, via email rbrushmdhs@nac.net or by telephone 732.671.9100, extension 18.

Thank you in advance for sharing your opinions with us.  Your support of Mater Dei and interest in its future is greatly appreciated.
